But on to the BEST NEWS:
Surgery went better than expected. Strother tolerated the procedure well. They were able to get the tumor out in one whole piece. The surgeon said it measured 20cm!! It will all be sent to pathology to see if any of the tissue is still growing. Of course there were microscopic cells left behind so he will be watched closely by his oncology team for some time with a chance for chemo still indicated.
He’s in recovery in ICU for a day and will stay on the surgical floor another 4-5 days. But right now the pressure relief is palpable, both in our minds and definitely from his heart and lungs.
(Oh and I passed a kidney stone at Harris Hospital ER this morning. Didn’t want Strother to be the only one on the pain med train today. 😂)
Today was a big win!
