Sunday

This evening fifteen Sigma Nu brothers came to hang out with Strother.

The young men he’s bonded with the last semester are meaningful in ways I’ll never fully understand and I respect it completely.

It’s a safe window for the his pledge class buddies to come share a meal with him because his white blood cell counts are high and it’s the absolutely best time for visits. I love how he interacts with his guys.

He’s also physically diminished. This is important for all of us to know. Strother won’t be the loudest guy in the group, but he soaks it all in. I hope you young men hear this, you are so critical to his well being. I love your visits more than I can tell you. You bring laughter and joy.

And also know that Stro is exhausted. We will keep working together to find the right balance. He needs activities and friends’ visits. He also needs so much rest.

I am never going to know the perfect path. I will always be grateful for the support we have.

Strother heads back to Cooks for five more days of chemo Tuesday morning. We are halfway through. He’s ready for this next round.
